One of my dogs has a tendency to hump when he gets excited. That's pretty much all he wanted to do when we were playing tonight and pausing the play didn't really discourage him. I'd like to stop the humping, but without squashing his interest in playing because after 8 months we've only built up to about three minutes of play (which probably means I suck). Would it be best just to end play whenever he starts to try humping?
Definitely... Would treat it like any other major penalty. Would say "NO", then end the game. For soft dogs or not persistent problems... would only last a minute. For super persistent or really hard dogs... Would put them away. "shun" them. Can be very powerful. Just make sure that you actually allow a make up after the correction period is over!
